I've now crafted a smaller, simpler list featuring my personal favorites and included some fun info.
These wines offer great value.

Kistler ‘Les Noisetiers’ Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast, California
(layered flavors of ripe orchard fruits, citrus & toasted hazelnuts) If this winery was in the middle of Burgundy, its reputation would be one as glorious as any producer of Burgundy grand crus, our favorite chard.

Escarpment Pinot Noir, Marlborough, New Zealand
Old world Burgundy style, not fruity and jammy; but elegant. We bike toured this region when we first met in '95. NZ Pinot has come a long way since then! Love this one!

Beaulieu Vineyard 'BV' Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California
Soft, velvety, chocolate, medium body. This is my dad, Manny's, favorite wine appellation in Napa Valley due to the mysterious "Rutherford Dust". It's true - on the finish of this great wine is the slight intriguing essence of dust. Always highly rated—a real treat.
